New Natural Blues

I've reached a point where I'm stuck with my hair. I haven't mastered many styles and I don't know all of the products that work for my hair. So I feel like I'm back at the beginning. Being a natural is trial and error. You try things and they either work or they don't. You may try something today that doesn't work, but try it again next year and it's like you've struck gold. What I do know for sure is that WATER is your friend. Water is the most simple form of moisture that you can provide your hair with. Don't be afraid of it. The second most important thing for me is to remember to seal in that moisture. My third piece of advice for any new natural would be, don't expect your hair to come out just like the girl's in the tutorial. Every natural is different, and every natural's hair is beautifully unique. Tweak the process that you saw until you find what works best for you, and trust me, once you find your natural you will LOVE it!

My Hair Care Regimen

Now don't get me wrong, I am NO expert. Hair care is definitely a process and I don't have it all figured out. What works for one person doesn't always work for the next... So here is my hair care regimen, I won't mention any products but maybe I will share some of my favorites soon.

Daily:
MOISTURIZE
I use the LOC method which stands for Liquid, Oil, Cream.
For Liquid you can use water, or a water-based leave in.
Oil I prefer my own home made oil mixture, but you can use olive oil, coconut oil, or any other oil you prefer. (Coconut and Olive oil's are the most penetrating.
Cream would be your styler, there are so many different kinds out there, so use which ever works best for you.

Weekly:
Co Wash (every 4 days for me)
Style (as needed)
I try to style once every 3 days, if I wear a bun it can last longer. The key is to keep your hands out of your hair as much as possible. Also be sure to sleep with a Satin scarf, bonnet, or pillow case to ensure that your hair isn't being harmed in your sleep (and for less frizz (: )

BI - Weekly:
Shampoo
Deep Condition
If you feel that you need to shampoo more often, that's fine. This is just what works for me,
I use a homemade DC that I will be sure to share the recipe of soon. :)

Use heat sparingly. Right now I'm on a no scissors / heat challenge until May 2016.
This challenge also calls for me to deep condition weekly. Trim split ends as needed, no one can tell you it's too early to trim your ends. Anything else you want to know, drop it in the comments..

Just Talking...

So this is my first time having a blog and I'm a little unsure of how often I should post, or what you guys would like to see. Mainly I made this because people are always asking what I did to my hair and complimenting my curls. So I'm here to help, because I've often wished that I had someone to help me. I will be using my YT channel along with this blog to share videos of some of my techniques. I will try to upload the first video on June 18th. Be patient with me guys as this is all new to me and I'm a little nervous. Hope you guys learn whatever it is you're looking to discover and if you have any questions for me feel free to ask. Promise I don't bite ;)
Until Next Time,

All About Me:

So where do I start?
I'm not really sure what I should say, besides the fact that I'm super excited to let you guys in on this journey with me. My hair is my LIFE. I've been transitioning for 17 months and I'm still learning. There is NO SECRET FORMULA to healthy hair. There is no special pill that will magically give you these amazing curls. It takes time, patience, and effort, but the outcome is soooooooo worth it. Trust me on this one. Your hair may not always come out like the girl from the tutorial's but don't fret. Rock your version and make a statement. This is me. Like India Arie says, "I am not my hair", but my hair is a part of me. A part of me I am very proud of! Hope you guys like my blog and anything that you want to know, just ask.
Until Next Time,
